Under the roof
Room for a third guest.
Or a second afternoon.
One king bed
A full king bed under the highest part of the roof, with a reading lamp and a good excuse to turn in early.
A separate daybed
A proper extra sleeping place for a third guest. Equally willing to hold a book and an unfinished intention.
A little more space
A small dining table, an oak floor, a round dormer window and a private shower room. The room has room to be more than its bed.

Mabel keeps this one close.
She will not admit to having a favourite room. The fact that she spends a great deal of time on this landing is, apparently, an administrative coincidence.
The roof makes
its own kind of room.
A sloping ceiling creates a few useful corners: a place for the daybed, a sheltered reading spot and a small table near the light. Nothing here needs to be particularly efficient.

The kettle keeps later hours.
When the daybed has talked you into staying up, the night kitchen is downstairs with cups, toast and very little ceremony.
